Gary Brown is running for House District 41. He believes the incumbent has not been representing his district as a Republican, and he wants to change that representation.
What have you learned from campaigning and talking to the people of Wyoming?
I think the most important thing that I have learned is that the people of my district are waking up to the lack of representation they have been receiving from their current representative. I have had so many people thank me for running for this office. The people of my district definitely what a change. They understand that the incumbent is a Counterfeit Conservative. They want a representative that shares their values.
What has been the best and worst thing about campaigning?
I have truly enjoyed talking with the people of the district, they have been so receptive. They are ready for a change and are hungry for someone that share their values and will represent as a true conservative. It is so rewarding to get so many phone calls and emails requesting yard signs, as well as asking for me to stop by and visit with them. Of course, I am always happy to do so!
I guess the worst part would just be the long hours, but even then, I have enjoyed myself during the entire process.
What, When, and Where do you have any events planned?
The only event I have planned at this time is Politics in The Park on Aug. 7th at 5:30pm
Why have you decided to run in this election?
I have attended the last three Legislative Sessions, and during that time I have become more and more concerned about the direction in which our current legislators are moving our state. Particularly my Representative, whose voting record show that he votes with the Republican Platform between 15% to 20% of the time. The people of HD 41 deserve a Representative that keep their word. I am a Liberty Minded Constitutional Conservative and will represent my constituents as such.
Have you held a political office before, or have you run before?
At the present time I am serving as a Committeeman in the Laramie County Republican Party. Other than this I have not ran for nor held political office. However, I have been politely active from an early age, and became a registered voter at eighteen and have worked on several campaigns over the last twenty-five years. I have also been a delegate to both county and state conventions for the Republican Party during those years.
What is your background and what qualifies you to be elected to office?
I have always been somewhat involved in politics, even though I wasn’t old enough to vote. However, I became much more involved in 2008 when Obama was running for President. I have kept up on the issues for many years. I also know the issues of today and have engaged with the people of my district and Wyoming. So, I understand their dissatisfaction with what is going on in our legislature. I am ready and able to serve all the people of my district and Wyoming.
What will be your number one priority if elected to office?
My top priority will be to secure freedoms of the people of Wyoming. This will of course entail several things. One of the top issues of course will be dealing with ever increasing property taxes, so that citizens will be able to remain in their homes. To do this we must deal with wasteful spending. I will also be working on the security of our elections in Wyoming. We must also strengthen our 2nd Amendment laws, to ensure the right of the people Wyoming to be able to defend themselves. But my top priority is and will always be the protection of the unborn, and of all human life from conception to natural death.
Do you believe that there are issues in current state politics? What will you do to address these issues? If you don’t believe there are issues, how do you plan to keep the status quo?
There are many issues that must be addressed within our state, that I believe must be dealt with. I will work with other conservative legislators to deal with these issues according to both the United States and Wyoming Constitutions.
As a Republican candidate, would you be willing to sign a pledge to follow the State GOP platform by at least 80%? If not, why?
I have thoroughly read the Wyoming State platform and agree with the present platform 100%, I therefore will gladly pledge to follow the present platform by at least 80% or more.
Who do you get inspiration from? Are there any leaders or politicians, past or present, that you admire?
God is always the first one I go to for wisdom and understanding. Also, when Ronald Reagan was President, I watched him closely and was amazed by his ability to communicate clearly and honestly with the people.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
As I have gone door to door talking with the people in my district most all of them are quite concerned with what is going on in our legislature. They overwhelmingly believe that current legislators have abandoned the values that our country and state were founded on. I will work to bring those values back to Wyoming
